Our Story

In May of 1999 New Beginnings began in Pastor Rory and Char Cobbs hearts and living room.

Soon it grew into the garage and stretched out under an awning over the driveway. Needing space, a store front was rented at 23rd and Jefferson Streets in Olde Towne Bellevue.

For three months people volunteered to renovate the space working after their full-time day jobs and weekends. It was definitely an extreme makeover. Walls were removed, new wiring, plumbing, flooring, drywall, paint and cleanup around the outside made the building ready for services by September 1999.

New Beginnings Worship Center Before

By 2001, more space was acquired, and a new sanctuary was created to facilitate the growth.

In 2004 another part of the building was leased to expand the sanctuary and add another classroom/prayer room. In 2012 the entire facility was purchased making room for the youth ministry, Collision, led by Pastor R.J. Cobbs, Jr. as well as much needed office space and three industrial bays that would be used in community involvement now known as Bellevue Together.

Leadership

The pastors at New Beginnings Worship Center work together to lead the church to gather, grow, and go.

Pastors Rory J. Sr & Char Cobbs

Pastors Rory & Char believe and teach that the Bible is the inspired word of God. Their messages are relevant to current day issues and delivered with love, compassion and without apology. The messages they preach are timeless because the issues of today are not much different than those faced in biblical times.

Their priority is building a safe community supporting an atmosphere of family. Pastors’ hearts are to give people the tools they need to discover their value and purpose. This provides a way for individuals to grow gifts and talents and then makes room for them to find their place of service with a sense of belonging.

Pastor R.J. Jr. & Crystal Cobbs

Pastors RJ & Crystal’s hearts are anchored in a passion for urban youth and young adults. They oversee Collision Youth & G3 Young Adult Ministries. Their strength is bringing a sense of family and a parent’s heart to these groups. Pastor RJ teaches that the only thing that brings true stability and security to a person’s life is when there is a Collision with their Creator that changes them from the inside out. This authentic encounter brings change in them which impacts their world and creates a desire for others to have the same experience.

G3 is the link to help young adults remain grounded spiritually and to make wise choices as well as healing from the consequences of some unwise ones and making a reconnect with God.
